This is a sister poem to "If only you knew" as suggested by u/Glen_oak.
I want you to know,
This was never supposed to be,
I want you to know this wasn't meant for you,
Was it even for me?
How can you ever know,
If I don't even myself,
To me our love was dusty,
Sat there on the shelf.
All the long nights,
We slowly came apart.
Still I can't excuse,
This deed that I have done.
I never meant to hurt you,
Or to break your heart.
But as I stood there,
With a stranger in the night,
He made me feel seen,
He made me feel alive.
A niggling in my head,
This is definitely wrong,
Still I pursue this,
We go back to his home.
The niggling returns,
I choose to ignore,
I want this,
But I think I want you more.
Now I'm leaving,
A stone in my heart.
How could I do this?
To the one I truly love.
You're finished work,
You come to meet me,
A big smile on on your face.
What have I done?
I feel like such disgrace.
I break down in your arms.
How can I tell you?
I want you to know.
I still love you,
Do you still love me so?
