Anytime I'm anxious or I think something could potentially affect my breathing, even if that "chance" is just plain stupid (like what if I developed an allergy etc), I need to check on my breathing by taking a very deep one, except then I struggle to force that deep breath and end up hyperventilating and sending myself into a panic attack which usually goes away the moment I manage to get a deep breath.
Doctors, friends, family even a psychiatrist couldn't explain my constant shortness of breath but now that I've realized I have OCD and that somatic OCD is a thing I'm pretty sure that's the explanation. I have an obsession with checking on my breathing otherwise a breathing issues might catch me off guard, and in doing so I hyperventilate.
Just looking for any similar experiences because this has been very alienating and I feel like even though I've had this issue for a few years now no one understands it.
