Confused and trying to understand more about what is my OCD and what isn’t.

Post Body

Hi all, I was just recently diagnosed with OCD. I have suspected for years that I have had OCD. I also have GAD which I have dealt with for a long time but only been on meds for it since mid-late 2020. I know that some the things I do are related to OCD but I feel like what I deal with is null in comparison to many others here and it makes me question myself of “oh I don’t really have OCD do I? Mine is so mild in comparison” and I’m struggling to understand the line between my OCD/GAD. I know my doctor said my intrusive thoughts in regards to having to say “I love you” to my parents and consistent thought that it has to be the absolute last thing I say to them is one. However I don’t know what exact things I do in a day-to-day are related to OCD because I’m so used to functioning the way that I do. I guess my main question would be is how do you all understand what is your OCD vs what isn’t and how did you learn to get a better understanding of it, ever since I was diagnosed it’s one of the main things I think about, trying to understand and get a better understanding of. Sorry if this is jumbled and doesn’t make a lot of sense, this doesn’t really make much sense to me in general…
