Hey everyone how's it going ?

I am currently a junior theatre nurse (only 1 year in theatres) in regional NSW and ever since doing my new grad through the lockdown period I'm just tired and over health like every health professional out there and have been thinking of what I want to do with my life and career.

I've recently finished my perioperative development program (scrub scout/anesthetics/PACU) and aiming to move back to Sydney to get more experience under my belt then try to get into a casual pool.

Basically once I get enough experience I want to be a casual employee in any hospitals casual pool and work whenever I want and travel whenever I want. I don't want to be a permanent employee because there is no guarantee I will ever get the annual leave dates I want which is based on staffing levels and I am more than willing to give up sick/paid leave and guaranteed hours for the flexibility of choosing my own roster. Ill probably go back to permanent hours once I either get a mortgage or speed run my bucket list.

Financially I am doing OK. I have a modest emergency fund and a slow growing future house deposit. I just wanted to see if this was a unwise idea from a lifestyle, financial and career point of view. Do any of you live this lifestyle ? Those who do it, do you enjoy it ? Any tips or advice ?

Thank you for your time and have a nice day.
