I recently got a job in North Vancouver, so started looking for rentals in the area. I have lived in East Van for many years, and although I do love being near my friends and everything there is to do, I ultimately do not thrive in this noisy and chaotic atmosphere. I’m annoyed by the constant sounds and generally feeling unsafe. I opened up my search to North Van, as I do love it over there and grew up in that area when younger. I’m on a tight budget, and I somehow managed to find a garden suite 1 bed and den for $1100, everything included in Lynn Valley. The landlords are really lovely people, and I am incredibly excited to take the next step and finally live on my own at 30. It appears I hit the housing jackpot as that’s the same price that I pay for a room in Vancouver..
I guess the point of this rant is to ask, has anyone around my age made this move themselves? Maybe someone who moved without a partner or family? My partner will continue living on Main Street in Vancouver which is probably part of my stress. I would love to hear some stories about people who have made a similar jump as I’m a bit nervous. I think if I had a partner living with me it would be less intimidating but I am worried about feeling isolated. Hoping to hear others experienced moving and living in North Van. :)
