So even though I have been a pagan for a few years now something I really don't know how to work with the gods besides giving them offerings

So like I've carved out ruins and stuff and like I said in the title I've giving offerings outside on a bench that was my grandma's before she passed and that has worked and I do talk to the gods in general, I talk alot to Odin and Thor asking for advice or sometimes just venting is that ok ? And what other ways can I work with them and the other gods ?
