My boyfriend never liked the term cisgender and I thought it was because he didn't quite understand, so I sent my boyfriend an Instagram post from pinkmantaray, which broke down the word 'cisgender' and how it isn't an offensive word and how labelling someone as cis does not take anything away from him. Sadly we got in a heated argument about it, and it makes me reconsider things.
Idk, on one hand I understand that you should never misgender someone or force a gender on someone, but using the term cisgender shows solidarity with trans and non-binary people alike. It just scares me to see him react the way he did, as a non-binary person myself. How do you think I should go about this? I want him to understand where I am coming from in the very least but he keeps taking this perspective that we (the LGBT) are trying to change them and how we are annoying for adding so many new genders everyday. Highkey considering ending the relationship or am I being too rash? Send help
