How do you handle name and pronoun preferences in the workplace, particularly for those of you who have not changed your name and who don't have a more consistent gender presentation or pronoun? I'm still my old name legally speaking, but I've never applied for a job under my preferred one. Would I do better to put the legal name on the paperwork then explain in the interview that it isn't what I go by? I'm not out as NB at work, but I do use my preferred name. When I go to look for a new job, should I just write my preferred name on the resume and then explain later on that the legal one is different? The references I'd give would all use my preferred name, or at least I'd like to think.
