So I recently saw a tiktok from a transman talking about how they have encounters some lesbians who say they will still date a transman, but to him he thinks that is invalidating to his identity. And I agree. But the comments of that video were horrible it was a lot of people using biology to justify why a lesbian would want to date a trans man. Or that you can’t really control feeling that way or whatever.
But that video just got me wondering why/how the lesbian identity has broadened?
What does it mean, really, to be a lesbian?
Why don’t people just identify as queer?
And if you are non-binary and you identify as a lesbian, why? And if you identify as something else, why?
Also just btw I’m non-binary but I used to identify as a lesbian but now I use the umbrella term, queer, because I feel like I don’t need super specific labels. But I’m curious as to how other people choose how they identify.
