Sooo...
When I was 16 I had my name and gender marker legally changed on like.. everything. Awesome! Except at the time I identified as a trans dude with a dude name and all of that. Now I'm pretty certain on being enby after 3 years of hormones and I go by a new name now.
I don't hate my current legal name. I wouldn't even call it a deadname because my family still calls me it and that's fine, but my friends, coworkers, and s/o all call me by my more current (and enby-feeling) name.
I just got a new job where I was informed unfortunately my name badge has to be my legal name (it's a government job) and I realized how much that bothered me.. but I don't even know how worth it it is to pay 230 dollars AGAIN for a name change petition, get all my documents AGAIN, update it everywhere AGAIN.. Because up until now there's little issue. I introduce myself as my preferred name and my current job changed my ID, email, etc, no questions asked.
I dunno. Has anyone else been through this? Change your name once legally and then.. pick something different later?
