TLDR; I grew up in the south with ultra conservative Christian parents and I am ignorant when it comes to a lot of folks. I am coming as open-minded as I possibly can to learn. And would love to learn from someone on a personal level.
Hey everyone! So this may come off as strange, and I do apologize lol. I am really interested in learning about genders, non binary, etc. So my wife and I are both recovering from growing up in ultra conservative Christian homes. As weāve grown older weāve realized thereās more to people, to love, and to and life than what was indoctrinated into us our whole lives. Weāre finally exploring into who we actually are as opposed to what our families, or society wants us to be. And in such, weāve been exploring ENM and the likes. Weāve both accepted that we are bisexual (and have been for a long time) lol. But in doing so, weāve come across some folks that identify as non-binary. And I am trying to learn more about it, on a personal level. So that when we do meet folks that are non-binary, I know what to do/say/how to act as to not offend them.
My wife and I have grown SOOO much from the people that we were when we met. And fortunately for us, we grew together, almost identical to one another - she just at a little quicker pace than I did. But I was unfortunately raised to āhateā lots of different groups of people, and I obliged, and I am ashamed for such. What REALLY started changing me (for the good) is when I found out one of my best friends was gay and had gotten married, I had NO idea he was even gay. However, we had been friends for over 5 years at that point, and the ONLY thing that changed was the fact that I now knew. He was the exact same person that I had been friends with for the last 5 years. Heās genuinely one of the nicest and best human beings Iāve ever encountered in my entire life. But now, based upon how I was raised, I should āhateā him, just because of who he loves?! Yea, no. Fuck thatā¦and thatās where it started lol.
I grew up in a small redneck town in the south, so Iām not familiar with a lot of things in life. Itās not that we didnāt have gay people (hell, I was bi), or non-binary people. But itās that they were too scared to admit such, to come out. Or honestly, maybe not even possess the knowledge to realize WHO they were.
So anyway, I mean this when I say it, but I come with the absolute openest of minds. But I would love to learn about non-binary, If anyone would be willing to message me? Again, Iām just trying to understand things, and life from a personal level. Thank you! Also, just FYIā¦our page is NSFW š š lmao. I always love when Iām in the NSFW realm of things and someone posts to like a gardening group. And Iām always like some little old lady is going to be VERY (maybe, pleasantly?) surprised if she goes to their page šš¤£.
