I'm non-binary and expecting a child. We have been thinking about names and it's something I've spent long nights thinking about. I hated my name growing up and changed it twice, once to a semi androgynous version of my middle name, then to a masculine version of my middle name (my first name sucked, it's super old fashioned).
Now that I'm tasked with choosing a name for my child, I'm so worried I'll pick something they hate. I know that I can encourage them to choose nicknames and abide them, and I can accept their gender no matter what, but name changes are hard, and I don't want to make my kids life any harder than it needs to be.
Not to mention the fact that regardless of gender identity, a name can get you bullied or judged harshly for all kinds of other reasons!
Does anyone have any advice about naming my kid? Especially from a trans/nonbinary lense but I'm open to all advice.
