maritime sextants in business offices
Post Body
I've noticed that whenever a business office is depicted in a TV show or movie (typically a "corner office" or an executive's office) that there will almost always be a sextant propped up on one of the shelves. Is this common in real life, and is there any symbolism here? My assumption has always been that this represents the office's occupant as a "captain of industry", but I'd love more insight to this.
