Is it ever ok to lie about a degree?

Post Body

I went to college and chose a course that was quite varied, it taught about a wide range of topics and all of these topics could get you a job in an industry by themselves. I attended for 3 years, struggling to afford college and spending lots of time working and scraping by while studying. I knew early on which industry I wanted to go into meaning that a large part of the classes were somewhat irrelevant to me but I worked hard to pass them regardless while getting straight A's in the parts that were relevant to the job I want.

In my last year I failed 1 thing and do not have the option to repeat it, this 1 class is completely irrelevant to the industry I want to go into and I am required to pay for another year of schooling to repeat this 1 class (albeit slightly discounted). This is why I want to lie, paying and attending the 1 class is a massive waste of my time and money while providing no benefit to me and I have acquired the skills I want for the job I want.

Do you think I could write on my resume that I have the degree? Should I be honest and explain to employers why I dropped out? Should I just suck it up and do the class and waste a lot of money?
