What are the mechanics behind Jumping stilts?
Post Body

I am currently designing prosthetics for a fictional character. Using Final Fantasy XIV as a basis for her, she would be a dragoon (A job which specializes in jumping impossible heights to pierce enemies with a lance) and I came across jumping stilts.

I thought it would be a good idea to give her jumping stilts on top of her prosthetics so I wouldn’t have to make 2 complicated prosthetics. So my questions are as follows; 1) How exactly do they function? 2) Would the functionality change is someone with above the knees prosthetics we’re to use them 3) What is the lightest real world material the springs are often made out of, and the most durable? And 4) Is there a way to make the design sleeker without taking away from its functionality?

I know this is kind of an uncommon topic and I couldn’t find anything on YouTube other than “how to use” videos. Thanks for your time in advance!
