Hi there everyone, if this is the wrong place to ask or if there is a better place for it I'd love to know them. Thanks! I live in the Baltimore-area in MD. I'm in my 30s, single with no real family here anymore. I have friends but we're all in different places life-wise. I work as a 911 operator / police dispatcher and I make enough to live on and be content but there's nothing really keeping me "here." I was recently looking at positions doing the same thing in California and some of them are close to the 6-figure range. I know COL is higher there but its got me thinking "why not?" I could probably apply and be accepted. The main thing holding me back would be the move itself and getting situated, and also I don't drive. Obviously those are pretty big hurdles but I don't think they are insurmountable. Has anyone made this sort of change before? What insight do you have? I know this is probably me talking crazy or me being bored in my current situation but I don't really have a reason not to make this change.
