Why are you not supposed to eat uncooked frozen peas?

I hate cooked peas, but for some reason I love raw peas (eg garden peas straight from the pod) but it says on the pack to not eat frozen peas uncooked. Is there an actual risk or is it just a chocking hazard thing which can be solved with thawing them?
