The brits make better reality tv than us Americans.
- they have sexy girls and guys usually models
- they aren't afraid to have real gay relationships
- no weird slaughter doom harem shows (bachelor)
- relationships are more believable
- feels less scripted.
- the fucking accents π
- no hood ratβs fighting over dumb shit.
- the challenges are fun to watch
- the sexy challenges
- the people on shows like shipped wrecked and love island seem like they are genuinely friends.
- their bounds bring a smile to my face
- drama exists, but it doesn't feel forced. -There's usually build-up to drama. -Cleaver narration. -The drama is created by produces changing rules rather than some over the top character
I could be wrong because I'm American and don't know UK culture well but whenever I watch reality shows in the USA I cringe because most of the time it's over the stop and clearly scripted. For example, the bachelor is the worse cringe because we're supposed to believe that girls in their 20βs are prepared to marry some guy they knew a couple of weeks.
If you watch love island there's a bunch of hot girls and guys developing relationships over time it just feels more organic because everyone has options, and when someone fucks up with a girl/guy they were consistently being cringe. Either they have some good writes which is possible, or sometimes guys put their foot in their mouth.
Why do I even care? Good question I've been under lockdown for a year, and I'm mad because while we got shows about keeping up with the Kardashians the brits got shows about 24-year-old bikini models mud wrestling to win a challenge.
