What do people do differently that allows them to find compatible, like-minded people in real life who are interested in the same niche things?

Post Body

I posted this in r/AskReddit but didn't get much luck finding answer

The need to put yourself out of your comfort zone to learn and grow should be balanced by the need to find belonging. It doesn't makes sense to swing from one extreme to the other. In this question, I'm asking on behalf of people who find that they can't find anyone who thinks like them, have the same kinks, enjoy the same hobbies, etc.

For example, I read on another thread: "yes, there is a 99% chance your weird sexual desires fall totally in the normal range. You will find someone out there who likes the same kinky shit you do"
