In the past few years I've noticed several small businesses and non profits that sell products to raise money, have been making upcycled products such as pen stands from Coco cola bottles, bath mats from plastic bags and a whole array of things, all in the name of being good for the environment. But wouldn't this do more harm in the long run, considering a plastic bottle in its original form is more likely to be sorted into plastics and make its way to a recycling facility where it's turned into more bottles(?), as opposed to a bottle that's covered in paint glitter and baubles. Or is there something I'm missing?
