What causes the exact post to be posted over multiple days by completely different users?

I've noticed this quite a bit browsing Reddit. I will see a question asked. Then some number of days later I will see the exact same question asked. Word for word. I look in the user's post history and it doesn't show that the same user is posting it multiple times.

Are these just bots people are getting that look for popular posts and repost them to boost karma or something? Or are these different accounts of the same people doing it for the same reason? Or something completely different I'm not thinking of?
