Do TV talking heads get paid for their appearances?

On cable networks like MSNBC or FoxNews, they've always got a bunch of talking heads or "experts" to go on and commentate about whatever the news of the day is. I guess they're the political equivalent of D-list celebrities, except you see the same faces reappear very often.
I imagine it must take a lot of time to be a recurring visitor on some talk news show. Are those people paid for their appearances? Or are they just doing it for publicity?
