How and when do I vote?

I recently registered to vote but I dont understand the process. I feel dumb for not knowing. I wasnt taught in school. I grew up with my mom who never voted, and no other close family members are even registered. I dont have anybody close to me that I can ask. I have my card and It says where my voting station is but little else.
If you guys could help point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. :)
