What do you think would end up happening if a senior coworker dislikes you a ton but your manager doesn't seem to dislike you?
Post Body

I strongly feel like this is the scenario at my job:

  • 1 senior coworker seems to dislike me a ton. The senior coworker has about 30 more years of experience than me. My best guess is she's going to retire within 2 or 3 years. I would say she's truly given me 1,000 complaints.
  • I would guess the manager feels mostly neutral towards me. Like, I would be surprised if he thinks I'm either a really bad or really good worker
  • I have like 3 years of experience
  • I would say no one else at the company seems to have an issue with me. Like, people have even given me awards outside of my team

I'm just really curious about what would happen in this situation lol. Since like, the senior coworker can probably do a lot of work I can't. But like, the manager doesn't seem to view me negatively. Plus, the senior coworker will most likely leave in no more than 3 years. What would you guess would happen?

It's like if you went to a job tomorrow and your senior coworker calls your work trash a lot. But, your manager is just sitting quietly in his/her office and not really paying attention to the situation.
