Why are such unreliable methods used for the death penalty?
Post Body

I hear so many stories of botched executions and I can’t wrap my head around how we haven’t come up with a more consistent way to carry them out. Why can’t you just cause someone to overdose on painkillers? Not saying it’s pretty, but it’d be effective.

Maybe those happen to be the methods from a while back and it’s not worth getting new methods into the law since the death penalty isn’t nearly as common? I’m assuming there has to be a reason. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
