Gender reveal and the number of genders in US culture
Post Body

I'm not from the US, but sometimes I see American content on the internet. Some content implies that there are more than two genders and everyone can choose their own gender. On the other hand I stumble upon these gender reveal parties, when the pregnant wife and her husband would announce the sex of the future child in form of a colorful surprise, the color is blue for a boy and pink for a girl.
How can these two concepts coexist in the culture? Shouldn't the gender reveal be called sex reveal instead, since it's about the sex of the child rather than gender?
Or do these contradictory beliefs come from very separated groups of people who never ever interact?
