Awhile back, my therapist asked me a question, and I thought he would keep going, but he didn't. So we just sat in silence for a solid 20-30 seconds waiting for the other to respond. I felt very awkward after that.
A few weeks later I brought it up with him and attempted to explain myself because I didn't want him getting the wrong idea. He looked at me very peculiarly and said he found it interesting I was even thinking about it. Like, of course it would be weighing on me. I'm just glad that therapy is an environment I can try to explain myself; I don't always get that privilege.
