is overcomplimenting a thing?
Post Body

i hope I don't sound mean.

my sister is 11 years older than me (I'm 17). she's the sweetest, and i love her to bits. however, I feel like she compliments me too much? it feels infantilizing.

like whenever i talk about a fact she's like "go doctor (my name)!", or after singing even one line in a song she'll be like "omg go (my name)!!" everytime she sees me she's like "who told you to look so pretty?"

i feel bad because she's just trying to be encouraging, but it just feels like i'm being babied a bit with the execcive compliments :( I'm really not trying to be a bad sister, honest. hence, is overcomplimenting a thing?

edit: i remember as a kid I'd sing badly on purpose because i didn't want excessive praise, but i didnt want to hurt her by telling her that it bothered me.
