Why Do A Lot of Black People Not Eat Pork

I went to college in a city with a very large black community. Many black owned restaurants. They would make a typical US breakfast but use beef bacon or sausage instead of pork.
I know for religious reasons some people don’t eat pork, but is there a cultural reason?
