I just turned 21 today, but I donāt want to drink any alcohol.
A few months ago, I passed my driving test, so I had the opportunity to get a driverās license. Since I was under 21 at the time, I got a vertical license with big red letters that said āUNDER 21 UNTIL (date)ā. I wanted to get a REAL ID as well, since I knew the deadline was coming up and I wanted to get it out of the way, but my parents told me to wait until I turned 21 so that I could have a horizontal ID. I wasnāt sure why they cared, since I have made it clear that I donāt want to drink alcohol.
Of course, since Iām 21, this problem doesnāt matter anymore. Iām going to try to get the REAL ID as soon as possible. Anyway, my question is: is there any reason outside of buying alcohol or other drugs that my parents made me wait to get a REAL ID?
