To start, I already know that not all flags are of "real" countries as we have đ´ó §ó ˘ó łó Łó ´ó ż and đŞđş for example.
I also know that the codes used in the name of the flag emojis is based on the top domain regional codes that were established in the mid 90s and that's why we don't have .ussr domains (for example the .uk in Amazon.uk)
there are 277 top domain regional codes that are based on the 249 regional codes in ISO 3166 (that iirc was originally for sending physical International mail)
but there are 248 countries flags and some of those flags (like đ˝đ°) don't have a code in ISO3166
My questions are
- what exact flags are missing from unicode? (I cannot find anything on Google)
- why some flags are missing from the emoji unicode despite having a flag and a regional domain?
