Is it stupid to buy gold if I only have $6,000 in my bank account?
Post Body

I put 20% into my 401k and 7k into my Roth IRA.

I paid off a 24k student loan last year or else I would have 30k in my account right now.

I’m just kind of drooling over gold at the moment. I want a piece. Like having a gem mint condition, rare pokemon card.

But the problem is that it’s so expensive. One ounce looks too small to scratch my itch. Maybe 10 oz would feeling exciting enough. A little coin or bar, I don’t know.

But 10oz is 27k right now.

I just don’t know. I told myself to work an extra shift every month to put into an index fund. But gold looks exciting. But if I was to save $1000 every month and buy $12k worth of gold it just seems irrational.

Thoughts?
