I read an interesting book from Paul fussell that talks about class and that the us class system is pretty much like the old caste systems but we just done a better job of keeping it out of sight and swept under the rug.
For example fussell mentions there are 10 tiers in the us class system.
Out of sight upper class - for example duponts, rothschilds and Rockefellers
Upper class - think your Roosevelt's, bush's, and Kennedy's
Tech elites - gates, bezos, musks for example
Upper middle class - corporate exec's, small business owners, doctors lawyers engineers etc
Middle class - nurses, teachers, programmers, administrators etc
High proletarian class - tradesmen /skilled labor
Mid proletarian class- retail, service workers etc
Low proletarian - gig workers
Destitute class - relying on welfare
Bottom out of sight - transient sleeping under bridge
What social class do you belong to?
