Why do some pieces of music get "legendary status"?
Post Body

E.g "Song of the Mountain King" by Edvard Grieg, "Gymnopedie #1" by Erik Seatie, "The Turkish March" by Mozart. Even more recent examples such as Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes. Not a lot of White Stripes fans but everyone knows Seven Nation Army.

I was listening to a Harlequin by Vana and there's a section in it that copies the Song of the Mountain King and I was like "Why does EVERYONE know that song?" which is how we got here.
