Why do so many people afraid of AI and considers them as "alien"? Both in fiction and in reality.

I wonder why this is the case for so many people, AIs came from humanity, they are our creation in many ways are an extension of ourselves, but why do some consider them as "alien"? I would like to foster this discussion here, you could bring personal reasons, societal reasons or any kind of thoughts and input, everything are appreciated. Thank you im advance.
