Did police know to keep evidence just in cases DNA became a thing? Or did they just keep evidence then get lucky that we advanced or DNA efforts?
Post Body

I’ve been watching a lot of true crime and cold case TV. At first i wondered why police kept evidence at all, then i realized duh just in case they solve something later theyll have the evidence for court or whatever.

But anyway my question is did the police know that dna would become a thing one day in say like the 70’s? Or did it kinda just happen by surprise one day?
