I heard a billionaire (Kevin o’Leary) say, a 9-5 job is like an IV drip of comfort.
I’m considering giving up a full time job for a per diem position that’s closer. I’ll probably make less (less shifts), no more benefits.
My original plan with this company was to get settled in and secure my future in retirement.
I still live with my parents and am single so I can survive like this. And If I pick up 1040 hours a year (20 hours a week) I would still make $71k a year. (Full time pay is 20% less at $120k but comes with 10k value insurance, and 28 free days of pay as well as end of year ~$1000 bonus)
I can eventually get a part of full time position at that location but it might take many years.
I have some anxieties of not having paid insurance and benefits at 34.
But this might be the chance for me to have more freedom and time.
Would it actually be a blessing in disguise?
