Can I get away with just counting cards while watching friends play?

So, im gonna be attending a convention in Vegas, and know how to count cards, basic strategy, plus a few deviations.

My friends plan to go to casinos as well, but I don't gamble unless I have favorable odds, otherwise, I feel like I'm being scammed. But i can count while watching and then if it's a 3 or higher, I'll play minimum or low bet numbers, since I won't be around for that long so I'd like low risk. If the count drops to 0, I would stop playing.

Since I wouldn't be deviating any play, and also betting small amounts consistently. I don't think a casino would notice and id likely turn a profit
