How can you spot a narcissist early on? And more importantly how can you tell if you're one if all your friends unconditionally support you?

I recently went through a tough friendship breakup after 5 years and during the fallout, I was called a narcissist. It really threw me off because it’s not something I’ve ever thought about myself. I really want to improve and make sure it doesn't happen again or really self reflect in a way thats productive to me being better. So how do you guys spot narcissist and more importantly can you even tell if you're one if your friends have always just gassed you up?
