Why do people heavily dislike Zack Snyder’s more cynical and dark take on superheroes, when the world that we live in now is exactly that?
Post Body

I get the obvious answer might be that people watch superhero movies to have fun and escape real life, so they want something happy and light hearted, which I assume is that we will get with James Gunn’s Superman film. I’m sure it’ll be a very successful film, Gunn is a great director.

But I’ve always wondered why many people don’t like these more moody and hyper realistic takes on heroes like Superman or Batman. I honestly feel that if Superman appeared in our world, we would react to him exactly as people reacted to him in Man Of Steel, with discomfort, caution, and fear.

It’s a cynical take but one that I think is true to our own world. What are your thoughts ?
