I've been thinking about this after seeing how many people prefer flag over tackle. Many parents do not want their kids playing tackle and some former NFL players do not want their kids playing tackle. Some of the reasons are concussions, injuries, and hitting/tackling. I said hitting/tackling aka contact because some parents don't like how physical the sport is and how players get hit/tackled. They prefer flag over tackle because it's non-contact, the rate of injuries is much lower, and it's harder for players to get a concussion. Flag football is expanding to colleges, a professional sport (the professional flag football league is called The American Flag Football League (AFFL)), the USA has its own national flag football team which plays against other countries, in the 2028 Olympics, the NFL has its own youth flag football league call NFL Flag, and fewer kids/teens are playing tackle.
Some ex-NFL players are cautious about starting their children in tackle football
Ex-NFL players skeptical about putting their own kids into tackle football
