This might seem an odd question. So this is why I’m asking it here.

Let’s say I am walking down the street and I see a big bag of Illegal on the floor. I look around and there’s no one there. I want to make sure that there is no Illegal on the floor and the police station is nearby.

So I pick up the bag of Illegal (probably not the smartest move) and I start walking to the police station to give them this Illegal I found.

Just around the corner a police officer approaches me and says “we have reason to suspect that you are carrying a big bag of Illegal” and they take that opportunity to give my pockets a shake down.

In this case I do posses the illegal item. I’m sure criminals could just say they were on the way to the station to hand it in when they were caught. So what would be the process from here so we think?
