Is spice tolerance a dulled ability to feel the spicy? Or is it you feel the spicy and you have a high pain threshold for it?
I ate some lentils the other day at an Indian place and they were spicy but I didn’t think they tasted really spicy. However my Mexican dad who makes super fiery habanero hot sauce and has eaten spicy stuff really felt the spice and emphasized his mouth was burning, but still enjoyed it. Now mind you I could taste all the flavor of the lentils (I wasn’t sick or anything) but the burning of the spice wasn’t there as much as everyone around me mentioned.
