When do you start spending the profits you've gained from stocks / investments?

What triggers you to say, "Yup, now I'm spending the money I've gained."
Note: this isn't about when to sell a stock or investment for highest gains. More so how do you determine you will finally spend the profits you've gained and not reinvest.
I am trying to apply a concept now where 10% of my profits I do what I want every 6 months. Just not sure if other mentalities or methods are better to apply.
