Hi, we were away from home for a month, but during that month we still had more than 1000 MJ of gas usage (I am not referring to an estimate by the gas company; I checked the meter myself). I read online that there can be gas usage during absence because the water heater pre-heats water to stay ready constantly. But just wondering if 1000 MJ per month is in the right ballpark for gas usage resulting from this mechanism alone?
Also, is there a way to turn the thing off? I don't need hot water to be ready when I am away for a month.
Thank you for your answers.
