This is something I see a lot in fantasy books and it always confuses me.
Post Body
Short notice, the enemy's on it's way to attack the city.
And somewhere along the lines the leader says, "Strengthen the walls," sometimes "Double the guards," as well.
How could they physically strengthen the walls with such short time? It never says to strengthen the walls by doubling the guards, it says to do one and then do the other.
