Is it really that bad to watch Youtube, especially if you watch long-form content?

I have noticed on several subs on here , people talk about quitting youtube but then they say you are better off watching a tv show/movie than watching content on youtube because the algorithm sucks or something, but is this true? What's so bad about youtube?
