What is gained by remaking old movies and replacing characters with their African American counterparts ?
Post Body

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Was doom scrolling today and saw an ad for a Flubber movie remake, and Will Smith will be replacing Robin Williams. Will Smith is amazing, and I’m just wondering why though. Flubber doesn’t even need a remake, as it’s such a good movie without one. Do classic movies appeal more to African Americans when they remake the films with a less caucasian cast ? Why hasn’t Hollywood redone some of the amazing classic African American casted movies like How High, Pootytang, Big Mommas House, The Nutty Professor, Hustle and Flow, etc. with a caucasian cast?
