How do I stop caring about the way my family treats me?
Post Body

I get along with my dad , but that's because I usually tell him what he wants to hear. But he doesn't accept me being bi and he told me he never wants to know of any men that I date so I feel like if I want to date men i have to hide it from him (he said he would rather me date a white girl than a man...we are black). I have some resentment towards him even though he said that like twenty years ago. He also makes comments about my weight and sometimes thinks it is funny to talk about. He often promises to visit me "in a few weeks" and 90 percent of the time when he says that he doesn't come. Even as a grown man, I still seek my dad's approval because he raised me to be a people pleaser. This is something I am working on in therapy.

My nephew , who is 28 and lives with my parents, sometimes makes really rude comments and loses his temper easily and never apologizes.
