Would you say we are closer to nuclear war now: or in the Cuban missile crisis of 1962?

Post Body
In 1962 the USSR got very, very close to installing nuclear weapons in Cuba, but there was an embargo of the island and the idea of nukes on Cuba failed. Time and time again I read (in my studies) that this was the moment that we, the people came closest to mutually assured destruction.
Yet here I am reading, day by day- the slow (quick rather) escalation to what can only be left as "nukes."
Putin is a unhinged wacko, obviously. I think he would do it if he "lost face."
What do you think?
